Admiring the views at Kaladi Brothers Coffee

6901 East Tudor Rd, Anchorage, AK 99504

In an unassuming strip center of businesses, with a faded sign showing the silhouette of a goat, is my favorite Kaladi Brothers location. Perhaps it’s because there’s always somewhere to sit, whether I choose the dark cozy corner, the long centralized table with the stools for a group hang, the tall tables in the back for more privacy, or the main section with small tables and chairs facing the large windows with views of the Chugach mountains.

The general aesthetic of orange-red walls and track lighting has an early 2000s vibe, but it feels comfortable, clean, sharp, and well-taken care of. Not like visiting a certain coffee-chain that has devolved into the atmosphere of a public bus station/restroom.

Most of my visits to Kaladi Bros occur past caffeine o’clock (after 12pm for me), so I like to order a fog with a caffeine free tea, like a Capetown or Moroccan, along with a pastry. People come and go. Some sit for awhile and engage in various activities from crafting, remote working, studying, board games, conversations, or just stop by for a quick refreshment in the middle of a bike ride on the nearby trail system. Despite the activity and busyness, it still feels like a place where you can linger and relax. Like other coffee-chains, there are those who order a drink and leave, but the atmosphere at this Kaladi Bros location invites you to stay awhile and enjoy the space and beautiful scenery, and most of the people who come in do.
